Lion opened in 1926, burned down in the firebombing and was rebuilt in 1950 to the same plan: chairs in rows facing the speakers, like a small church that happens to serve coffee. A staff member puts on the afternoon programme and you sit through it. The rule against talking is not enforced with signs — it is simply what everyone came for.
Go on a weekday afternoon and sit upstairs on the left. The balcony is where the horns actually image, and it is the one seat nobody fights you for.
Custom two-way horn system built in-house around 1950, driven by unbranded valve amplification that has been rebuilt at least twice.
